The Elowen Alabaster Teardrop Wall Sconce hangs a single drop of natural stone from a slim metal arm — a shape so simple it feels inevitable. The alabaster is carved into a full, rounded teardrop that narrows to a graceful neck at the top, and the cloudy veining runs right through it. Switched off, it rests against the wall like a pale stone pendant; switched on, the whole drop fills with a warm amber glow that seems to come from somewhere deep inside the stone.

That glow is the whole reason for real alabaster. Light doesn't shine out of it — it sinks into the stone and comes back softened, with no harsh hotspot and no bulb in view. The rounded base holds the most light and fades gently toward the neck, so the sconce reads brightest exactly where the eye lands.

Natural Alabaster

Naturally Unique Veining

No two pieces of stone are ever the same

Alabaster is a natural stone, so every piece carries its own veining and subtle variation in color. The fixture you receive may therefore differ slightly from the images shown.

An inherent characteristic of real stone — not a quality defect.

Good to Know

Three finishes to match your room

The arm and wall plate come in brass, brushed nickel, or dark bronze — gilded and classic, cool and contemporary, or quietly dramatic. The stone stays the same; the character changes completely.

Beautiful in pairs

The single teardrop looks especially balanced mounted in twos — flanking a bed, a mirror, or a doorway. Its slim profile also suits hallways and narrow walls where a wider fixture won't fit.

Dimensions

Size & Placement

One elegant size — slim enough for a narrow wall, sculptural enough to stand alone.

∅ 4.7″ × H 17.8″ Dia 12 × H 45 cm One Size · Single Teardrop

Best for

Bedside, mirror, hallway, or beside a doorway — anywhere a slim vertical accent belongs.

Slim footprint

Just 4.7″ wide — it sits close to the wall without crowding a narrow space.

Even better in pairs

Mount two, one on each side of a bed or mirror, for a balanced, symmetrical look.

Placement Tip

For a bedside or mirror, mount the sconce so the center sits around 60–66″ from the floor (roughly eye level). Flanking a bed, space a pair to frame the headboard evenly; flanking a mirror, keep them just outside the glass and 28–40″ apart. Along a hallway, space fixtures 8–10 ft apart for an even rhythm of light. Because the drop hangs below the arm, check that the lowest point of the stone clears any furniture or headboard below it.

The design

A Single Drop, Caught in Stone

The oldest shape there is, carved from the oldest material.

The Elowen Alabaster Teardrop Wall Sconce began with a shape nobody had to invent. A drop of water falling is the same silhouette every time — narrow at the top, heavy and round at the bottom, held together by its own weight. Carve that shape from natural stone, hang it from a wall, and it feels less designed than discovered.

The stone does the rest. Because it's real alabaster, light doesn't shine out of the drop — it sinks into the stone and comes back softened, gathering brightest in the full, rounded base and fading gently up toward the neck. That's exactly how a real drop of water holds light, and it's the reason the fixture glows rather than glares. There's no visible bulb, no hard edge to the light. Just a warm amber weight hanging on the wall.

Above it, the counterpoint: a clean right-angled arm and a square plate, sharp and architectural where the stone is soft and organic. That contrast is the entire design. And because every drop is hand-carved from genuine stone, the cloudy grain in yours exists nowhere else — so the simplest thing in the room turns out to be the only one of its kind.

Why this sconce

A Shape Nobody Had to Invent

A single drop of natural stone on a slim architectural arm — soft below, sharp above.

01

Light That Gathers at the Base

Light sinks into the stone rather than shining out of it, pooling brightest in the full, rounded base and fading gently toward the neck — exactly the way a real drop of water holds light. No hotspot, no bulb in view, just a warm amber weight on the wall.

02

Soft Stone, Sharp Frame

A clean right-angled arm on a square wall plate holds the drop — architectural precision above, organic softness below. That contrast is the whole design, and it's why the sconce reads as sculpture even switched off.

03

Three Finishes, Elegant in Pairs

Choose warm brass, brushed nickel, or dark bronze — gilded and classic, cool and contemporary, or quietly dramatic. At just 4.7″ wide, it suits narrow walls a wider fixture would crowd, and looks especially balanced mounted in twos flanking a bed or mirror.

Materials

Why Natural Alabaster

What a real stone teardrop gives you that glass, resin, and acrylic can't.

Natural Alabaster Glass / Resin / Acrylic
The light Light sinks into the stone and gathers in the rounded base — a warm glow with no harsh bright spot A bright point of light; you often see the bulb, and acrylic can glare
Switched off A pale stone drop that reads as sculpture on the wall, even unlit Glass looks empty and shows dust; acrylic looks like plastic
Uniqueness Veining runs right through the stone — no two drops alike Machine-molded — every unit is identical
Over time Real stone keeps its color for decades — it won't yellow Acrylic yellows and scratches; glass chips
In the hand Cool, smooth stone with real weight and depth Lightweight and hollow-feeling
What it says A natural material with real character — quiet and grounded A mass-produced look-alike chosen to cut cost
Questions, Answered

Common Questions

Is the teardrop real alabaster?
Yes. Every drop is carved from genuine natural alabaster — never resin, glass, or acrylic. Because it's real stone, each teardrop has its own veining and slight color variation running right through the piece, which is the mark of authenticity, not a defect.
What finishes does it come in?
The arm and wall plate come in warm brass, brushed nickel, or dark bronze — gilded and classic, cool and contemporary, or quietly dramatic. Each is a warm or matte tone rather than a mirror finish, so it sits quietly with the stone and hides fingerprints instead of collecting them.
Will it be too bright or glary?
No. Light sinks inside the stone rather than shining straight out, gathering brightest in the rounded base and fading toward the neck. You get a soft amber glow with no visible hotspot — comfortable to sit beside and easy to look at directly. It's ambient light rather than a bright task beam.
What height should I mount it at?
As a guide, center the sconce about 60–66″ from the floor — roughly eye level. Flanking a mirror, keep a pair just outside the glass and 28–40″ apart; in a hallway, space fixtures 8–10 ft apart. Because the drop hangs below the arm, check that the lowest point of the stone clears any furniture or headboard beneath it.
Does it look good mounted in pairs?
Yes — the single drop looks especially balanced in twos, flanking a bed, mirror, or doorway for a symmetrical look. At just 4.7″ wide, its slim profile also suits hallways and narrow walls where a wider fixture won't fit.
Will the stone yellow or fade?
Natural alabaster keeps its color for decades and won't yellow under the light or give off odors — unlike acrylic, which yellows and scratches with age.
Is the stone fragile? Will it arrive safely?
Alabaster is solid stone with real weight — durable in normal use, though like any natural stone it can chip if knocked hard. Each piece is packed in thick custom-cut foam inside a reinforced box, with the hardware wrapped separately. In the rare case something arrives damaged, message us with photos and we'll make it right.
How do I clean it?
Wipe both the stone and the metal gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid water, harsh chemicals, and abrasive pads — alabaster is a porous natural stone. Always switch off and let the bulb cool before cleaning.

"Alabaster does not merely hold light — it breathes with it, casting a warmth that cannot be manufactured, only discovered."
Formed through millions of years of slow crystallisation, alabaster is among the world's most ancient decorative stones. When illuminated, it yields a quiet, golden luminosity — gentle, organic, irreducibly human. Our collection exists to honour that rarity, designing forms that allow the stone to speak without interruption.

Natural Character
No two stones
are ever alike.
Alabaster carries within it a geological autobiography — millions of years compressed into veining, crystalline structures, and tonal shifts that no craftsman could plan or replicate
